Migraine symptoms are often caused by allergies.
Classic migraine
- Severe throbbing headache pain,
- Pain begins and often remains on one side of the head
- Head pain accompanied by nausea, with or without vomiting
- Numbness or tingling on one side of the body
- Blurring or bright spots in the vision
- Blind spots in vision
- Intolerance of light
- Flashing, shimmering or distortion of objects, particularly towards edge of visual field

- Attack typically starts in the morning, peaks within an hour and lasts 4 to 24 hours. This may recur several times a month
Common migraine
- Severe throbbing pain on one or both sides of the head
- Warning symptoms are rare
- Pain may last 1 to 3 days
Cluster headache
- Severe pain, usually localized around one eye or temple
- Tends to occur in clusters of 1 to 10 headaches a day over a few days, recurring every few months. Each headache typically lasts for 15 to 180 minutes.
- No warning headache symptoms
- May be associated with sensitivity to light, tearing, nasal stuffiness and agitated behavior
